Brussels, 07/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - The EU is pleased with the willingness expressed by Moscow to ratify the Kyoto Protocol, declared a spokesperson for Environment Commissioner Margo Wallström. Commenting on the European Troika's visit to Moscow on 5 March (see EUROPE 4 March p 13), Pia Ahrenkilde, nevertheless, expressed the disappointment of Ms Wallström and the Greek Environment Minister, Papandreou and his Italian counterpart Matteoli at not having met the Russian Energy Minister, Igor Yusufov except at a meeting with Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko, which was allured programmed. Ms Ahrenkilde indicated that the Troika was also worried by the Russian authorities not having introduced a calendar for ratification and that Russian was the key for Kyoto's entry into force
