Brussels, 27/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - On the occasion of the Greek Presidency of the EU Council, the Department of Public Law and Political Science of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is organising, on 28 February, at the university, in cooperation with the Socialist Group of the European Parliament, a conference on "The Perspective of a Constitution for the European Union". It will mainly be attended by prominent jurists and political scientists from Greece, Italy, Germany and Belgium. Greek Culture Minister Evangelos Venizelos will open the conference, followed by Professor Skouris, Judge at the EU Court of Justice, and Professor Papadimitriou, Legal Adviser for Prime Minister Costas Simitis.
The conference will end with a round table chaired by MEP Ioannis Koukiadis. Speakers will include the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Tasso Yannitis, and the representatives of the Greek government and parliament at the European Convention, Giorgios Katiforis, Panayotis Ioakimidis, Paraskevas Avgerinos, Marietta Yannakou-Toutsikou. Conclusions will be drawn by MEP Dimitris Tsatsos.
