17/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - During its weekly meeting, on 19 February, the European Commission should adopt a decision on its annual policy strategy for 2004, as well as a communication on the recruitment of officials from future Member States. Furthermore, it should approve recommendations on Portugal and Luxembourg's stability programmes and an opinion on the recommendation from the European Central Bank concerning modification of the statutes of the European system of central banks and the ECB (see EUROPE of 15 February, p.7 on the change in voting procedure within the Governing Council of the European Central Bank in the prospect of enlargement). Other points on the agenda are: - the regulation on the statute of the European political parties; - the Green Paper on guarantees granted to persons involved in criminal proceedings within the EU.
