17/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - In a resolution adopted last Thursday, the EP has supported the work of the Negotiation and Agreements Table for Venezuela and the Secretariat General of the OAS, attended by the friends of Venezuela. The resolution encourages the government and opposition (namely the Democratic Coordination) to find a concerted solution that is peaceful, constitutional and democratic to the crisis and also asks for the European Parliament to send a delegation to the country. The EP is calling on the Council to remain attentive to the situation of the immigrant communities living in Venezuela, as well as those coming from Member States of the EU in an effort to protect them and their property (Portuguese amendment by Luis Queiro and José Ribeiro e Castro from the UEN).
