Brussels, 13/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the European Parliament are organising a joint conference on WTO, on 17 and 18 February at the International Conference Centre in Geneva. Mainly intended for parliamentarians specialised in commercial matters, the meeting will allow participants from both northern and southern countries to examine the main challenges after the Doha ministerial meeting in November 2001. Views and experiences will first be exchanged with colleagues from other parliaments. They will also be able to discuss directly with participant government representatives at the multilateral trade talks, and to dialogue with representatives of the main international organisations conducting technical assistance programmes and programmes for strengthening capacities in the trade sector.
