Parliament thinks that breaches currently revealed by inspectors does not justify launch of military action - solution to Middle East conflict is priority

Brussels, 30/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - Thursday's adoption by 287 votes, 209 against and 26 abstentions of a resolution on Iraq, the European Parliament has declared itself resolutely opposed to any kind of preventive war or unilateral military action. It also believes that the UN inspectors' report does not justify the launch of military action. Votes on this document were won by the Left, with on occasions, a majority of three fifths.
