Commission releases nearly EUR 200 million to help Turkey prepare for accession

Brussels, 20/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday and Friday, the Commission approved two major financial aid programmes amounting to over EUR 200 million in favour of Turkey. These programmes are:

  • EUR 75 million to help the country finance its economic and structural reforms as well as harmonise its legislation with that of the EU. This is the second and last instalment of a "structural adjustment facility" amounting to a total of EUR 150 million that the EU had approved in February 2001...
