Commission continues infringement procedures against 5 Member States for failing to transpose EU rules on seafarers' hours of work into national law

Brussels, 19/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - On 18 December, the European Commission sent reasoned opinions to France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Italy and Portugal for failure to transpose into national law the EU rules on the hours of work of seafarers on board ships calling at Community ports. European rules on seafarers' hours of work are part of the EU strategy to increase maritime safety and improve living and working conditions for seafarers.
