Budgetary Policies/Stability pact European Commission proposals

On 27 November, the European Commission presented a communication from Commissioner Pedro Solbes on strengthening the budgetary policies of the Member States of the European Union especially aimed at rendering the Stability and Growth Pact both more robust and more realistic, and "forward looking", as President Prodi told the press (see EUROPE of 28 November, pages 8 and 9).
