28/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - In a speech on Europe and the Mediterranean on 26 November at the Catholic University of Leuven, President Prodi pointed out that the wise men on inter-cultural dialogue, which he had decided to set up, would be beginning work in January. He also explained that he would be examining the medium-term perspectives for cultural dialogue policy in a universal perspective that should create new operational proposals. He also stated that if we reflected on the great historical poles of development during the evolution of scientific, artistic, legal thought in the Islamic world, we would have to think of Andalucia, Persia and the regions of the extreme periphery of the Islamic world in contact with the Mediterranean, but which were confronted structurally and almost always peacefully with others.
