Brussels, 28/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - On 30 October, the European Commission is organising a conference at the premises of the Economic and Social Committee in Brussels on the Solvit networks for solving problems relating to the internal market. In operation since July 2002, the network links the Member State "Solvit" centres and aims to help citizens and businesses to assert and enforce their Internal Market rights, in cases where public administrations are not correctly applying the EU law. Since July this year, 52 cases have been dealt with. Commissioner Frits Bolkestein notes in a press release that it is "encouraging to know that Solvit has already resolved a few cases. But it can only work if Europeans know it is there. That's what this conference is about". (The Solvit system can be contacted by phone (008006789101) or at the Commission website address: http: //europa.eu.int/comm/internal_market/solvit/).
