Lamy to discuss Russian membership of WTO and bilateral trade

Brussels, 23/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - European Commissioner Pascal Lamy will be visiting Russia on Thursday and Friday to discuss Russia's application to join the WTO. Sources in Brussels suggest that bilateral trade negotiations over access conditions for industrial and agricultural products are making progress, and Russia has put forward a compromise position to set a ceiling for agricultural subsidies (currently at less than 2 billion a year) at 9.16 billion a year, in place of the...
