Brussels, 18/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Group of the Greens and the European Free Alliance is organising a hearing on the fringe of the European Parliament plenary session in Strasbourg on 25 September on the case of the Russian journalist Grigory Pasko, currently serving a four year jail sentence in a work camp in Vladivostok. Candidate of the Greens/EFA for the Sakharov Prize, Grigory Pasko has also received the support of Elena Bonner, widow of Andrey Sakharov, and Alexander Kachenko, President of the Russian Pen-Club. A press conference is scheduled on that occasion with the group's co-president, Daniel Cohn-Bendit, the defender of human rights and the environment, Alexandre Nikitin , an the Belgian Bart States 9Belgie Spirit), head of the EP delegation for relations with Russia.
