Brussels, 18/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - "How to encourage sporting practices that provide positive values?": that is the question that this year schools and sports clubs in five Walloon communes (Boussu, Dour, Honelles, Quievrain and Saint-Ghislain) will turn to, in the framework of an initiative launched on 17 September by the "intercommunale de Sante de Harmegnies-Rolland" (Saint-Ghislain, Belgium). This initiative to combat doping among young people aged 10 to 14 has received the backing of the French Community of Belgium and the European Commission, which is putting up 355,000 euro. Among the topics being broached: - the dangers of doping; - the importance of sport for the health of the young, notably to prevent obesity; - means of combating violence and promoting fair-play in sport. (Students will have several educational tools at their disposal: brochures, DVD, Internet site http://www.gagner.org ).
