14.5% of women and 12.5% of men in EU are temporary workers

Luxembourg, 22/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - According to a study published by Eurostat, 14.5% of women and 12.5% of male employees had temporary jobs in the EU in 2000. With 34.5% of women and 30.7% of men employees on a fixed-term contract, temporary working was most common in Spain, followed by Portugal (22.7% of women and 18.4% of men) and Finland (20.9% and 14.5%), while in Luxembourg only 4.4% of women and 2.7% of men had temporary jobs and in Ireland 5.9% and 3.6% respectively.
