Persistent deadlock on ethyl alcohol issue and German concerns over GMOs

Brussels, 28/06/2002 (Agence Europe) - In Luxembourg on Thursday, the Agriculture Ministers did not manage to break the deadlock over the issue of ethyl alcohol due to deep divisions between the European Commission and four Member states (Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom), on the one hand, and Germany (backed by other delegations), on the other, over what to do about national aid.
