Brussels, 27/06/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the Commission sent a reasoned opinion to Greece (last stage before formal referral to the Court of the Justice) for still not having applied all the Community regulations concerning the approval of aeronautical maintenance workshops, ten years after adoption of the regulation by the EU. Greece has not kept to the timetable that it had fixed for ensuring that all the country's maintenance workshops are up to standard so that they might carry out maintenance and repair work on aircraft from Greek and other Community companies. In June 2000, the Commission had opened infringement proceedings for the same reason after an exchange of correspondence with the Greek authorities had not been followed up with action sufficiently rapidly.
