- France: According to a study carried out by Ernst and Young, although foreign investment in France exceeded EUR 20-50 billion between 1997-2001, foreign companies demonstrated less interest in the country last year. In terms of quantity, companies setting up fell from 352 in 2000 to 266 last year knocking France from second into fifth place in Europe.
