Brussels, 25/06/2002 (Agence Europe) - The 22nd meeting of the Euro-Arab parliamentary dialogue, organised each year by the Parliamentary Association for Euro-Arab Co-operation and the Arab Inter-parliamentary Union, was held in Brussels on 21 and 22 June, with the participation of parliamentarians from 13 European countries (the EP was represented by Luisa Morgantini) and 16 Arab countries, as well as representatives of the European Commission, UNRWA and WEU, as observers. A PAEAC press release states that discussions were especially on the Middle East and participants asked for the inclusion of Libya in the Barcelona Process. The same press release states that Nikolaus Van der Pas, Director General of the Education DG in the European Commission, announced on that occasion an intensification of Community initiatives relating to inter-cultural dialogue, and broadening existing programmes to the Mediterranean.
