Madrid Summit reaches compromise on future association agreements between EU, Central America and Andean Community

Madrid, 17/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Andean and Central American countries fought tooth and nail to have included in the three texts adopted at the EU/Latin America/Caribbean Summit a political commitment in favour of new association agreements between the EU and the two regions. A working party had to be set up to negotiate a compromise Thursday evening on this last point left open in the texts.
