Strasbourg, 16/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption, on Tuesday in Strasbourg, of the report by Daniel Varela Suanzes-Carpegna (EPP, Spain), the European Parliament approved the proposal establishing a new fisheries protocol (mainly for tuna) between the EU and the Seychelles that will take effect in 2005 (see EUROPE of 2 October last). Forty tuna seiners and 27 surface longliners will benefit from fishing possibilities for a catch volume of 46,000 tonnes of tuna.
