10/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - "I do not share the view of Romano Prodi (…) that Britain's relationship with the US somehow gets in the way of playing a full part in Europe", said the Secretary to the Foreign Office, Jack Straw, commenting, in an address at the Brooklings Institution in Washington, on what the President of the Commission had to say recently at Oxford (see EUROPE of 29/30 April, p.5). "There is no contradiction between being pro-American and pro-European", Straw declared.
