19/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - Alima Boumédiene-Thiery, French Green MEP, has called on the Valencia EuroMed Summit (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.6) to be maintained, saying that cancelling the meeting would be a failure for "us and our activities" and would be a "battle lost in advance". The MEP called for demonstrations at all EU Member States' foreign ministries and in front of town halls or symbolic places in all European cities the day of the conference, and near the conference itself in Valencia, to get the EU to accept the resolution passed by the European Parliament and supported by civil society in Europe for an interposition force to be sent and for the EU-Israel Association Council to be convened on the basis of Article 2 of the Agreement, which is being flouted.
