Brussels, 19/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - After agreement from the Parliament, the Council and Commission, the Committee of Representatives (Coreper) of the Member State governments formally finalised, on Thursday, the budget intended to finance the Convention on the Future of Europe in 2002. This fund of EUR 4 million, which comes from the contributions of the institutions (EUR 1 million for the EP, EUR 400,000 for the Council and EUR 2.6 million for the Commission) will make it possible to cover the expenses of the Convention members and staff (EUR 958 750, of which 375 000 is for remuneration and allowances), and the operating of the Convention (EUR 2.671 for translations, brochures and studies to be carried out). A "reserve" of EUR 370,000 has also been set up to meet any additional expenditure.
