Brussels, 04/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - At its meeting on 25/26 March, the Transport/Telecoms Council formally adopted without debate the regulation on the implementation of the first level internet (ccTLD) domain name ".eu". The aim of the regulation is to designate a registry, the body that organsises, administers and managed the ccTLD dot.eu and draws up a general policy framework governing the running of the registry. The regulation requires the Commission to design measures to cover speculation and abuse of domain names and procedures for dealing with disputes.
