Brussels, 02/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - Confrontations, the association chaired by MEP Philippe Herzog (United Left/Nordic Green Left) will be organising an assembly on 17 April at the European Parliament in Brussels that will prepare a public meeting on the Convention on the Future of Europe for 30 May.
Confrontations, has just celebrated its tenth anniversary want to become more involved in the Convention on the Future of Europe and display a willingness to push forward proposals for a real economic union so that Europe becomes an area of development and solidarity, as well as playing a better role in forces for peace and fraternity throughout the world, explained its Secretary General, Claude Fischer. The association points out that Philippe Herzog has published one of, "the first ever systematic essays on the Future of Europe and its identity", under the title, "Europe after Europe - Routes to Transformation" (with a preface by European Commissioner Pascal Lamy: Editor's note).
