Vote on McCartin report on 2000 Budget discharge postponed for a week following disagreements over Spanish flax affair

Brussels, 21/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - The EP's Budgetary Control Committee decided on Wednesday to postpone its vote on the report by Joseph McCartin (EPP-ED, Ireland- on the 2000 Budget discharge until 26 March. The Committee was unable to get a majority to agree to grant discharge to the European Commission for the 2000 Budget. The vote on the initial amendment by the rapporteur over granting discharge failed to obtain a majority (10 to 10 with one abstention, which means that under EP...
