ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) electricity

Italy's ENEL has begun the process of selling its electricity generating company EUROGEN (turnover of around EUR 1.5 bn in 2000 with workforce of 2,200) to EDIPOWER, a consortium led by EDISON, that put in the highest bid, of EUR 2.98 bn for full acquisition of the company. Other bidders included SINERGIA and IBERDROLA.
