Humanitarian aid of EUR 27 million for refugees

Brussels, 11/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - Last Friday, the European Commission adopted a global plan of EUR 27 million intended for humanitarian aid to refugees in Tanzania, in order to continue operations in refugee camps in the west of the country, led by ECHO (European Community Humanitarian Office), the UN, the Red Cross and NGOs. Tanzania is hosting almost half a million refugees who fled neighbouring countries, and who come mainly from Burundi (over 320,000) and the Democratic Republic of...
