Brussels, 11/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - Through ECHO, the European Commission is providing assistance of EUR 1 million to the population of the Jaffna peninsula (Sri Lanka), affected by civil war. Since early 2001, there has been a steady, but rather small return of internally displaced people from Wanni, in the south, to Jaffna.
