Brussels, 25/02/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Euro-Mediterranean Summit of economic and social councils and similar institutions is being held in Athens on 6/7 March, chaired by Göke Frerichs, President of the European Economic and Social Committee. The Summit is being organised by the Greek Economic and Social Council and the ESC and will look at Euro-Mediterranean partnership and the extension of the consultative role of economic and social committees in the Euro-Med region. The participants will discuss various reports (on international trade and social development, co-operation projects and the foreign debt of southern Mediterranean countries, for example) and will sum up by adopting a final declaration and a Communication for the Valencia ministerial conference (Barcelona V).
