25/02/2002 (Agence Europe) - On the initiative of Anna Diamantopoulou, the European Commission should, by written procedure on 27 February, approve the draft amendment to Regulation 574/72/EEC that sets the implementing modalities for Regulation 1408/712 on the application of the social security regimes for salaried workers and non-salaried workers and families moving around in the EC. The amendments were requested by certain Member states or there relevant authorities (Austria, Portugal, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Italy and Ireland). This regulation will take effect on the 28th day following its publication in the Official Journal. It will be compulsory and directly applicable to all Member States.
