Brussels, 25/02/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the consortium including the British vehicle land transport company Autologic Holding Plc, Dutch general logistics services company TNT Holdings BV and Norway's shipping company Wallenius Wilhelpen Lines AS to jointly acquire CAT (Compagnie d'Affrètement et de Transport) which provides specialised logistics for the car industry and was previously a wholly-owned Renault subsidiary. Last year, Renault decided to outsource specialised logistics to a company jointly owned by Autologic, TNT and Wallenius and restructured the ownership of its subsidiary at the same time. Following an investigation, the Commission decided that selling the company as a joint venture would not lead to any significant changes in the market since the three companies' business does not dovetail apart from in the field of general logistics contracts, but the combined share of that market is only 15% apart from in Italy, where the deal would not cause any particular problems.
