29/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - Anna Maria Campogrande, a European Commission civil servant who is very active in the fight against the domination of English in the European institutions, particularly at the Commission, has written to President Prodi. She has observed that the European Patent has raised the full and worrying spectre of single language domination. She asserts that European civil servants and European citizens who are more closely involved in European affairs than others, were very worried by this development. Ms Campogrande pointed an accusatory finger at those who sought to destroy the marvellous European institutions that belong to all European citizens, by invoking the economic criteria and ethos of a private company. She affirmed that Europe was not simply about an elite, and submitted a list of ideas of good conduct for language use, to Mr Prodi.
