Italy condemned for inaction by regions of Sicily and Basilicate regarding waste management

Luxembourg, 28/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - The second chamber of the European Court of Justice, presided over by Germany's Ninon Colneric, has condemned Italy because two of its regions, Sicily and Basilicate, have done nothing to comply with European legislation on the management of hazardous waste in view of its eradication. It has also condemned Italy for not having communicated to the Commission waste management plans for packaging for all Italian regions.
