KPNQwest is authorised to acquire European activities of US telecommunications company Global TeleSystems

Brussels, 17/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the acquisition by KPNQwest NV of the European business of Global TeleSystems (GTS), an American telecommunications operator. The operation gives birth to the second largest European player on the data transmission market with a combined turnover of EUR 1.3 billion forecast for 2002 and around 4,000 employed. Controlled by the US company Qwest Communications, KPN is a pan-European supplier of data communications...
