PES says majority of Europeans want an elected president

Brussels, 08/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - According to a poll carried out for the Party of European Socialists (PES), chaired by Robin Cook, leader of the Labour majority at the House of Commons, 73.1% of Europeans consulted until Monday were in favour of electing the President of the European Commission, and only 16.7% were against.
