8 DECEMBER Belgian Presidency made the following declaration on behalf of EU

Brussels, 19/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - On the occasion of the Nobel Peace Prize centenary celebrations on 8 December in Oslo and the 10th anniversary of Ms Aung San Suu Kyi winning this prestigious award, the European Union regrets that the General Secretary of the National League for Democracy is not in position to grace the celebrations with her presence.
