Brussels, 19/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - By a qualified majority vote on Wednesday (only France abstained), the Agriculture Council endorsed a regulation aiming to implement the second phase of the agreement ending the banana dispute that was signed in April between the EU, the United States and Ecuador. The main amendment to the EU banana regime for import licences involves reserving a quota for ACP banana producers with a preferential duty of EUR 300 tonnes.
