Brussels, 19/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday the European Commission appointed an 'SME Envoy" to step up exchanges with Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and their representative bodies. The new post has been entrusted to Mr Timo Summa, Director at the Commission's Enterprise Directorate-General. In his role on behalf of the Commission, Mr Summa will provide a special contact point on issues such as SME access to finance and innovations, competitiveness, better regulation, implementation of the Internal Market, access to EU programmes and how best to enhance enterprise policy consultation mechanisms. He will put forward initiatives and collect the subsequent feedback.
