19/11/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to grant EUR 500,000 to help internally displaced people and returnees to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia survive the winter, by ensuring the supply of firewood for the most vulnerable people through ECHO (the European Community Humanitarian Office). ECHO already provides food aid to the war victims and aid in restoring schools and health infrastructure; and is carrying out an accommodation building programme.
