08/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - The EP has endorsed the Council's common position on the EU office equipment energy efficiency labelling programme. The plenary rejected an amendment retabled by Eryl McNally (Labour, UK) calling for manufacturers to draw up a voluntary code of conduct to withdraw the least efficient products from the market. Commissioner Loyola de Palacio refused to accept this amendment.
