09/09/2001 (Agence Europe) - The adoption of a report by Generoso Andria (Forza Italia) reflects the European Parliament's approval of the idea of amending the draft Regulation on the financial support mechanism for the Member States' medium-term balance of payment situations (see EUROPE of 30 August, p.6). The Commission has been proposing to cut the mechanism's value from Euro 16 to 12 billion. Solely non-Euro countries still qualify for the mechanism. The amendments specify that the cut...
