Scandinavian investment fund INDUSTRI KAPITAL is preparing to aquire Finnish chemical firm KEMIRA OYJ (annual turnover 2.5 billion Euro in 2000). The Finnish state has in effect decided to allow 56% of its stake in KEMIRA to be bought up in exchange for a 34% stake in the new chemical group and a downpayment of 100 millions Euros. INDUSTRI KAPITAL will also be launching a takeover bid of 1.1 billion Euros to take full control of the capital stock of KEMIRA, quoted on the stock exchange at 9.10 Euros per share. INDUSTRI KAPITAL, which already owns the Scandinavian chemical group DYNEA, aims to "build a specialist chemical group as a world player". As well as bringing together KEMIRA and DYNEA, the new group will also bring on board the specialist chemical firm, SYDSVENSKA KEMI which encompasses the activities of the chemical firms NESTE and PERSTORP. It is seeking to obtain a total annual turnover of 4.3 billion Euroso.
