Commission authorises British aids to coal sector

Brussels, 25/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission authorised the United Kingdom to grant EUR 34.3 million (GBP 21 million) in operating aid to several companies in the coal sector: Selby Complex/RJB Mining Plc (GBP 20,324,500), Blaentillery N°2/Flynonau Duno Mines Ltd (GBP 217,000), Hay Royds Colliery/J. Flack & Sons Ltd (GBP 264,000) and Eckington Colliery/Moorside M<ining Company Ltd (GBP 286,000). These aids are aimed at covering operating losses on the coal production site...
