ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) brewery

The Belgian group INTERBREW has been granted exclusive negotiations concerning the purchase of German brewer BECK CO, states The Financial Times. INTERBREW is said to be willing to pay up to £1 billion, a bid that is far higher than those of its rivals: SCOTTISH AND NEWCASTLE, ANHEUSER-BUSCH/BUDWEISER and SAB-SOUTH AFRICAN BREWERIES.
