Strasbourg, 04/07/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Parliament's temporary committee on the echelon spy system adopted the report by Gerhard Schmidt, which notes the existence of this global communications interception system controlled by five countries including the United States and the United Kingdom, but which did not find any concrete proof of the system's use for economic espionage. The report, on which we will return in more detail, will be discussed in plenary in September.
