According to Prodi, enlargement is possible without ratification of Treaty of Nice

Brussels, 22/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - In an interview with The Irish Times, European Commission President Romano Prodi said that the issues of enlargement and ratification of the Treaty of Nice could be treated as two separate things. In other words, the "no" to Nice expressed by the Irish People at the referendum on 8 June would not be an obstacle to the enlargement process.
