Parliament invites Commission to publish Green Paper on unlawful trade of cultural goods, the volume of which is a threat to European heritage

Strasbourg, 14/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the EP adopted the report by Pedro Aparicio Sanchez (Spanish Socialist) concerning the application of Community legislation on the unlawful trade of cultural goods. On the basis of a report from the European Commission in March 2000, MEPs consider that the unlawful trade of cultural goods (unauthorised exports, sale of stolen objects by organised crime) has reached such an amplitude that the cultural heritage of Member States constantly...
