The Franco-Belgian oil company TOTALFINAELF announced that it would sell 2.3% of the capital held in the pharmaceutical group SANOFI-SYNTHELABO, in which it is the majority shareholder, in view of a redeployment to institutional investors. The operation involves the sale of 16.7 million shares, and represents some EUR 1.06 billion (on the basis of the closing hare price on 18 April).
